II – Protective Film Effect

After its application and superficial drying, Derma GeL® is composed of two layers: the external layer and the inner layer.
	The external layer (or protective film) - made of dried polysaccharides together with acrylic acid-based polymers. This external layer is semi-occlusive and enables to maintain – at the level of the inner layer – an ideal moist environment allowing free gaseous permeability.
	The inner layer (or moist environment) – primarily made of hydrophilic particles 13,14 and several active molecules. This combination absorbs the exudate from the wound, forming a soft moist mass which creates an optimal moist environment for rapid healing.
	Note that Derma GeL® maintains cell viability to 97 % 19.
